None so blind as those who will not see…
How many people who watch the following video will draw the same conclusion as Appeal Judge Mr Justice Bean? Watch the video, draw your own conclusions, then read on… Note that although there is some sound, it’s only at the start, and the timings at the bottom of the screen appear to be out of [...]

HMRC: All your dosh are belong to us
Sometimes I ponder on this blog, its future, the direction it has taken and will in future, and not just because the rest of the writing team seems to be permanently on holiday.
We originally set out to expose institutional stupidity, but during the Election campaign wrote much from our joint perspective of EU-scepticism, broadly supporting [...]
Coalition Government launches “Your Freedom” initiative.
Today, as has been widely reported in the MSM, Nick Clegg launched the Coalition Government’s “Your Freedom” initiative, where they are asking us to tell them what laws we want repealed, where the Government is snooping too much, strangling us in red tape, and so on. All to the good on the face of it. [...]

Suffering from election fatigue?
I think I probably am, but not in the ways you might immediately think.
In this era of media- and spin-led politics, we are seemingly interminably subjected to a constant barrage of soundbites, ‘news’, glad-handing, palm-pressing, baby-kissing and any other inconsequential drivel that our political classes and their sycophants in the media care to inflict upon [...]

Rudyard Kipling: The Beginnings
Are we there yet, Dad?
Nearly, children, very nearly…
It was not part of their blood,
It came to them very late
With long arrears to make good,
When the English began to hate.

European Public Prosecutor: a jackboot too far on British Sovereignty?
This is serious folks: please read and understand. It is very, very important… The more people read this the better.
First, just what is (or rather, what will be) the European Public Prosecutor?
The European Public Prosecutor is a proposed European Union post established by the European Constitution Treaty of Lisbon, and covered in Article 69E [...]
Nigel Farage fined €2,980 for calling van Rompuy a “damp rag”
Hot news, thanks to a tweet from Nigel:
Sentence passed, letter from Parliament President: Maximum allowable fine 2,980 euros. Free speech is expensive in Brussels #UKIP
Worth every penny, I’ll bet.
Update: Nigel refuses to apologise to Belgium, the Damp Rag, or the EU Parliament…
Update2: Daniel Hannan has covered this in his latest blog: Nigel Farage is [...]

Greater Manchester Police record snowball fights as ’serious violent crime’
Gratefully received from a friend of mine, this week’s first dose of insanity involves the Greater Manchester Police recording snowball fights as serious violent crime. As the article makes clear, ’serious violent crime’ is supposed to be incidents such as murder, rape and inflicting injury with a weapon. Clearly it would have to [...]

Mother fined £50 because her toddler dropped a banana skin.
North East Lincolnshire Council are in line for this weeks ‘name and shame’ award. The Telegraph reported a case where a mother has been fined £50 by a council warden when her toddler dropped a banana skin out of her pram.
Mrs Allen by her own admission, had seen the banana skin drop to the floor [...]
